Yamaha shows why the WaveRunner series is still the world's favourite craft.

By unveiling exciting new models and innovative upgrades across this season's WaveRunner range, Yamaha is clearly demonstrating its ongoing ambition to remain at the top of the global boating market.

Two main themes are driving this season's model changes: first, consumer demand for even more affordable boating pleasure that offers them value for money, fuelled with such success by the introduction of the VX series and the striking EX line from last year;

secondly, the aim to make full use of Yamaha's ever-growing range of advanced technical gadgets and industry firsts, by including more and more of them in the less expensive models. Such as the revolutionary RiDE™ system, the remarkable throttle and propulsion control systems with their many related functions, the electronic trim control for instant shifting while cruising and the remote security system. More 2019 WaveRunner models will have these great features as standard.

According to owners, it is the presence of impressive and advanced technical features like these that really make the difference when it comes to choosing a vessel - and give them the assurance that they are buying the best of the best - packed with innovative features and performance.

All four FX Yamaha flagship models have been completely redesigned with sleek new hull and body shapes that not only bring on board the very latest technical developments and user-friendly features, but also offer significant performance improvements.

An all-new model for 2019, the EXR, takes the concept of ‘affordable performance’ to a new level thanks to its higher speed and even greater manoeuvrability.

In the high performance and competition sector, performance-enhancing technical changes have been made to the extremely fast VXR and to the latest version of the legendary and super-fast GP1800, the GP1800R, which is faster than ever.

1] The FX series - our latest-generation flagships
The biggest news within the presentation of the 2019 WaveRunner line-up concerns the latest generation of the four-model range FX series. The all-round capabilities and absolute quality of these flagship machines was always exceptional. Now that they have been completely redesigned in many important respects and even more of the very latest high-tech systems and features have been added, we can safely say that they are outstanding.

It all starts with the new aerodynamic style of the daggerboard, which reflects the FX's much admired heritage but gives this a fresh, modern look. However, appearance is only a small part of this story. Piloting these latest machines is now a whole new experience, with electronic control features ranging from the revolutionary RiDE™ system to the advanced electronic throttle system with its Reverse Traction Control, Cruise Assist, No Wake Mode with 3 modes ... and even Yamaha's magical electronic trim system for shifting while cruising.

On your first encounter, many of these stunning new technical features may remind you of the kind of advanced facilities you would expect in a modern car. Take, for example, the CONNEXT colour touchscreen, an industry pioneer. It displays clear concise information, interacts between you and your machine and allows you to operate it in a truly practical and useful way; or take the new Multi-Mount system that allows you to take your speakers with you, or your GPS/fishing radar, or your cup of coffee ... securely fastened to the new FX's fine-looking body.

Speaking of the FXs‘ fine-looking body, it too has changed for the better with aggressive graphics and striking new colour combinations for our four models. The same goes for the hull, with a new-generation design that promises not only more comfort, but also better dynamic stability, ’neutral' steering and more predictable cruising characteristics.

Of course, when swimming and water sports, you need to be able to easily board and disembark a vessel of this luxury class. So the stern of the latest FX now has a softer, wider and deeper boarding step and double handles. The ingenious footwell water drainage system should not be forgotten either.

And last-but-not-least, we must mention the new generous amount of storage space, partly waterproof - such as the extra-large glove compartment and integral removable drum for personal items, which has found its considered place in these new FX models.

All in all, the stunning new FX deals another big blow when it comes to superior excellence in this demanding market. We expected no less from Yamaha!

2] The striking new EXR
The EX series was received with applause around the world as the line of vessels that truly broke new ground when it comes to affordability and value for money.

Now the even faster, fun-guaranteed EXR also joins the family. It is a powerful, sporty machine, yet incredibly manoeuvrable and easy to handle. The list of unique features includes the new hull and body design, made from the latest ultra-light NanoXcel2 material, which ensures higher speeds and acceleration as well as smooth sailing characteristics, and our advanced RiDE™ technology, the intuitive, easy-to-use control system, which has already revolutionised the way owners of our premium models enjoy their watersports.

A closer look at the specifications reveals an array of exciting benefits built into this new ‘pocket-rocket’ WaveRunner. A large, 50-litre fuel tank for longer fun, easy-to-read colour multi-function LCD gauges, a comfortable two-tone seat for those who want to cruise alone or with friends, a strong tow hitch, thoughtful and convenient boarding options - and, to ensure you make a good impression, stylish colours and bold graphics complete the picture.

Despite its remarkable affordability, the DNA flowing through the EXR's veins is pure Yamaha - high-end technical innovation, world-renowned engineering and superior reliability.

3] GP1800R and VXR performance improved again
In the demanding racing world and among the huge community of performance boat enthusiasts for whom speed and performance are (almost) everything, these two iconic WaveRunner models offer the epitome of boating fun. But for these people, no speed is ever high enough. Is no turn ever taken sharp enough!

So yet more performance enhancements are being introduced for 2019, with new competition-inspired stave surfaces and intake grilles with input from the top, giving both models even sharper and even better manoeuvrability, combined with better ‘grip’ on rough water and the ability to cut corners super sharply. The GP1800R already has the latest super-light NanoXcel2 hull, but now this remarkable material is also used for the VXR's hull, giving it the same benefits of improved acceleration, speed and handling.

Of course, the eye wants something too, so the stunning new colours and graphics will ensure that these impressive machines stand out in any company.

GP1800R and VXR - The unprecedentedly powerful GP1800 with supercharger is the undisputed star of the series and in demand worldwide, as is its high-performance sister, the VXR. Both models are undergoing upgrades for 2019 for better performance, with the GP1800 for this occasion the GP1800R becomes.
SUPERJET - The unique and unmistakable stand-up machine SuperJet, another legendary Yamaha in the world of competition, was developed specifically for racing and is now more popular than ever.
